Xeriscape projects
Low water does not have to mean bare rock.
Layered plantings, boulders, steps and paths, chosen to hold up in our climate and still look planned.
What's included
Built to need less water and less of your weekends.
Xeriscapes, sometimes called zeroscapes, replace thirsty turf with drought-tolerant plants and hard-wearing materials. The result is lower water bills and a yard that needs far less upkeep.
Rock, gravel and fabric
Quality rock and gravel over landscape fabric, which cuts weeds way down and keeps the beds clean.
Drought-tolerant plantings
Low-maintenance shrubs, grasses and perennials placed for sun, mature size and color through the seasons.
Whole yard or one area
We can do the entire landscape or add a xeriscape to a small area of a yard you already have.
What clients say
Designed well. Built on time and on budget.

How it works
From walkthrough to finished beds.
1
Site walkthrough
We look at the sun, slope, soil and existing lawn and talk through what you want to keep.
2
Design and plant list
You see the layout, the rock and the plants before anything is ordered, with pricing for the whole job.
3
Install
We remove turf as needed, set the fabric, place boulders and plants, and finish with rock or gravel.
4
Drip and finish
New plants connect to drip irrigation, and we walk you through how to water them while they establish.
Why Millburn
Xeriscapes designed and installed by one crew.
Lower water bills
Less turf and drought-tolerant plants mean less water going on the yard.
Less upkeep
No weekly mowing on the converted area, and fabric and rock keep most weeds down.
Designed, not just rocked
We plan the plantings, paths and boulders together so it looks intentional.
Questions
Before you reach out
Does a xeriscape have to be all rock?
No. Most of ours mix rock and gravel with plants, boulders, steps and paths so the yard still feels alive.
How much water will I save?
You will use less water because there is less turf to irrigate, and the plants we choose handle dry conditions. Savings depend on the size of the lawn you replace.
What about weeds?
Landscape fabric and rock cut weeds way down. Occasional weeds can still blow in, so we will tell you what to expect.
Can I replace only part of my lawn?
Yes. We can convert one area, like a strip along the street or a hard-to-water slope, and leave the rest of the yard as is.
How much does a xeriscape cost?
Price depends on the area, the rock and plant selection and any boulders or hardscape. We give you a price at the consultation, before any work starts.
What areas do you serve?
We work across Salt Lake, Davis, Utah and Weber Counties, from Ogden to Provo.
