What a good wall does
A retaining wall has three jobs. Most failures come from skipping one.
It controls erosion, moves water where it should go, and gives you flat ground on a sloped lot. Utah makes all three harder: clay soil that swells in winter, big temperature swings and heavy snow.
Drainage first
Perforated drain pipe and clean backfill sit behind the wall, so water has somewhere to go besides against it.

Natural stone, engineered block, poured concrete or timber, picked for your site and how you want it to look.
Engineered when it needs to be
Walls over 4 feet follow Utah building code, and we bring in a licensed engineer when the wall calls for it.

Site visit
We look at the slope, soil, drainage and what you want the space to do. On bigger walls we may recommend a soil test or engineering report.

We design the wall, choose materials, and pull the permits the project needs.

Proper excavation, base prep and drainage go in before any wall material.

Build and finish
The wall goes up, gets backfilled, and we finish with plants or mulch if you want them.

Do I need a permit or an engineer?
Walls over 4 feet follow Utah building code and often need a licensed engineer. We handle permits and bring in the engineer when it's required.
What materials do you build with?
Natural stone, engineered block, poured concrete and timber. The site conditions and the look you want decide which one fits.
How do you stop water from damaging the wall?
Grading and drain pipe behind the wall, with clean backfill, so water moves away from the wall.
Can you add steps, seating or planting to the wall?
Yes. We build steps, seating and planting beds into the wall design.
How much does a retaining wall cost?
It depends on height, length, material and access, so we price it after the site visit.
