Excavating and grading projects
The work you do not see decides how the yard performs.
Swales, catch basins, trenches, stone setting and finished grade, done with our own equipment and crews.
What's included
Grade it right once and everything built on it lasts.
Patios, walls, lawns and beds all depend on the ground under them. We shape the site first so water drains away from the house and the build that follows has a solid base.
Grading and drainage
We set grades to your plan and move water away from the home with swales, catch basins and proper slope.
Excavation and haul-off
Digging for footings, patios, pools, walls and beds, with spoils moved off or reused on site.
Heavy stone and material setting
We place boulders, large slabs and wall stone with equipment sized to the job.
What clients say
Designed well. Built on time and on budget.

How it works
From site walkthrough to finished grade.
1
Site walkthrough
We walk the property, look at slope, drainage and access, and talk through what you want to build.
2
Grade plan
We agree on the target grades and where the water goes before any digging starts.
3
Dig and shape
We excavate, move material, set drainage and bring the site to grade in stages.
4
Check and hand off
We measure grades against the plan at each stage and walk the finished site with you.
Why Millburn
Equipment and crews that handle hard sites.
Built for difficult sites
Slopes, tight access and uneven lots are where we turn rough ground into usable space.
Measured to your plan
Grades are measured to what you asked for, with each stage tracked.
One team start to finish
The crew that grades the site can build the patio, wall or landscape on it.
Questions
Before you reach out
Can you fix a drainage problem in my yard?
Often, yes. Regrading, swales and catch basins move water away from the house and out of low spots. We look at the site first and tell you what will work.
Can you regrade an existing yard?
Yes. We can regrade around finished areas, though access and what is already in place affect the plan, so we look at it before quoting.
Do you handle permits and codes?
We grade to city and community codes, including drainage. Ask us about permits for your project when we meet.
Will heavy equipment tear up my yard?
We size the equipment to the job and plan access routes before we start, so we can tell you what to expect.
How much does excavating and grading cost?
Price depends on the area, the amount of material moved, access and what is being built. We give you a price at the consultation, before any work starts.
What areas do you serve?
We work across Salt Lake, Davis, Utah and Weber Counties, from Ogden to Provo.
