Draper Hillside Landscape Project
This Draper project sits against a steep mountain setting. Millburn designed and installed the complete landscape with lawn, rock landscaping, boulder walls, trees, paths, a pavilion and outdoor gathering areas.
Start Your Landscape ProjectLandscaping a Hillside Property
The surrounding terrain is a defining part of this site. Rather than trying to make the property feel separate from the hillside, the landscape uses rock, boulders and open planting areas that fit the setting.
Boulders and Changes in Elevation
Large boulders form retaining edges across the property and help manage the transitions between levels. Rock-covered areas reduce the amount of continuous lawn while still leaving defined green space near the home.
Paths Through the Landscape
Large stepping stones create informal routes through the rock landscape. Young trees and planting are spaced throughout these areas, giving the property structure without making the hillside feel crowded.
Outdoor Gathering Areas
A timber pavilion creates a covered destination within the landscape. A separate paved seating area gives the property another place to gather outdoors while staying open to the surrounding mountain views.
The Finished Project
The finished landscape is intentionally open. Lawn, stone, trees, boulders and gathering areas are spread across the site in a way that works with the scale and terrain of the property.
