Request a Landscape ConsultationThis Ogden project was a complete landscape design and installation by Millburn Lawn & Landscape. Millburn designed the property and completed the installation, including the deck, outdoor living areas, hardscape, lawn, planting, boulder work, steps, and landscape lighting.
The property has significant changes in elevation along with several mature trees. The finished landscape uses those existing features as part of the overall design rather than working around them as separate areas.
Backyard Patio, Fire Pit & Deck
The backyard includes a raised deck built by Millburn with a large paver patio below it. The patio provides room for outdoor seating and dining, with a circular fire pit area built into the overall layout.
Low landscape walls help define the patio and fire pit without separating them from the surrounding yard. Stone steps connect the patio area to the upper portions of the property.
Landscaping the Slope
A large portion of the backyard sits on a slope. Millburn used large landscape boulders, stone steps, lawn, and planting beds to work through the elevation changes. Instead of one continuous retaining wall, the boulders and planting create transitions between the different areas of the yard.
Mature trees were kept as part of the landscape, with new lawn and planting installed around them.
Front & Side Yard Landscaping
The installation wasn't limited to the backyard. Millburn landscaped the front and side areas of the property with lawn, planting beds, trees and shrubs, large boulders, and landscape lighting.
The curved edges of the lawn follow the planting beds and existing trees rather than dividing the property into straight sections. The same boulders, planting style, and landscape details used in the backyard continue around the home.
